Thomas Rohner is a partner and represents clients in litigation before Swiss courts and in international and national arbitration proceedings. He has more than twenty years of experience in this field. Due to his experience as a lawyer, arbitrator, mediator and former judge at a district court, Thomas Rohner approaches litigation / arbitration from different perspectives. His practice focuses on contractual matters such as commercial and M&A disputes, corporate disputes (including liability actions), joint ventures, licensing / purchase / distribution agreements, often in a cross-border context and involving various industries (e.g. banking, commodity trading, life science, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure and energy). Furthermore, Thomas Rohner is regularly involved in the enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards, asset recovery, international legal assistance and insolvency issues.

Thomas Rohner publishes and lectures at conferences on the topics of international arbitration, procedural law, insolvency and inheritance law.

From 1997 to 2005, Thomas Rohner worked as a deputy judge at a Swiss district court and was for some time vice-president of the court in 2001. He chaired a chamber and served as a single judge and as a member of a panel of judges, which gave him extensive experience in the dispute resolution process.

In 2003/2004, Thomas Rohner worked as an international associate for a large law firm in Washington DC.

From 2004 to 2025, he worked for a large Swiss business law firm in Zurich (since 2008 as a partner) where he served as head of the dispute group.

Since October 2025, Thomas Rohner is a partner at Zollinger Rohner Attorneys at Law as part of ZR Law Ltd.

Thomas Rohner is a graduate of the University of St. Gallen (lic.iur., 1998; Dr.iur., 2002, with a doctoral thesis on insolvency law). In 2003, he graduated from the University of Chicago Law School (LL.M.). He was admitted to the bar in 2000. In 2020, he earned the title of CEDR Accredited Mediator at the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution in London.
